Surf / Sea State: 2-3 foot surf
Air Temperature: 12ºC
Sea Temperature: 9ºC

Only just enough wind to start with and although I managed to get out the back and planing I was having trouble holding my ground upwind. Gave up after a while and wtached Rob give it a go without much success. We then sat around for a while waiting for wind. It tried to get to around 20 knots a few times, but never really seemed to do it.

Eventually decided to give it one more last attempt. Rob had been trying on and off for a while. Got on, stright on the plane and so headed out and upwind as far as I could. Just managed to get out beyond the waves and then the wind swung more westerly and picked up. I was now a little overpowered at times but stayed out the back as I didn't want to have to work my way back upwind in the now inshore conditions. Out the beack it was really good. Lots of big (over head high) waves to play on and plenty of power for some half decent jumps and nice gybes.

I could now see Rob going OK on the inside so sailed back in to play amongst the whitewater for a while. I then sailed off across the mouth of the estuary towards Graveyards, but as I turned round to come back the wind started dropping and I just made it back before it dropped right off and we could no longer get planing.

As we packed up Chris was just setting up his kite and I think the wind stayed at around 15 knots for him to have a good session. I was half tempted to go for a kitesurf as well, but after 4 hours on the beach decided it was best to head home and get some brownie points ready for the windy week ahead!
